Brand Design & Logo Ideation
Taking inspiration from a Chinese restaurant in Downtown San Luis Obispo called Bamboo Bamboo, the goal of the project was to hypothetically rebrand the restaurant to be welcoming for all ages, particularly families and college students in the area. After gaining inspiration from researching similarities in Chinese and California wildlife, I decided to utilize the heron, a species prevalent in and significant to both Central California and China, to link the restaurant’s Chinese heritage with it’s Central Coast Californian identity. The approachable and modern visual identity is supported overall by unique illustrative imagery, clean and bold text in the logo type, and a distinct blue and tan color palette.
