Design Objective

Create diverse mediums of advertising graphics combining both existing and new assets for the annual Take Back the Night event run by Safer.

Adobe Illustrator, Implemented into Canva

Challenges

Use the pre-existing TBTN moon logo as well as the clouds and poppies that my design lead made for the Sexual Assault Action Month graphics to ensure that the event was tied back to our overall Sexual Assault Action Month program. Incorporate all mandated design elements and all required text in all formats as well as abiding by Safer marketing guidelines while ensuring legibility.

Final Solution

The digital assets I made were an Instagram post and a Canva template for the rest of the staff to use. The physical assets were a poster and Performing Arts Center marquee. I was able to adapt to the formats by manipulating the placement of the clouds where I could. In minding the theme of taking back the night to empower survivors, I utilized dark blue colors and created highlights from the colors used in the Sexual Assault Action Month designs. This was a project where accessibility was especially important to reach out to all communities, so I paid close attention to contrast when choosing type and background colors. Overall, the type and color choices were made to draw people in to the event while also minding the serious context of the event.
