Design Objective

Create a narrative-based and interactive product tag design that teaches viewers about what Denim Day is, its significance, and how plus when viewers can participate in it. In practice, it would be displayed along with a regular product tag as part of a Denim Day awareness campaign.

Challenges

Tag should have a somewhat refined yet modern aesthetic to make viewers initially assume that it’s a standard informational tage. An overall visual narrative should be both directly and indirectly shared through traditional aspects of jean tag designs like the size label and description of the product. Strategically use type and color to be respectful toward the serious nature of the topics being discussed while also maintaining that previously mentioned somewhat refined feel. These design aspects are all utilized to subtly demonstrate how the events surrounding Denim Day lead to the creation of an empowering movement.

Final Solution

The goal of the tag as a medium for visual storytelling was to not only inform people about what Denim Day is, but to also allow them to examine and challenge the stigmas surrounding sexual assault. For the design of the tag, I wanted it to be a seemingly unassuming tag from a distance that actually revealed educational information when viewers looked closer. Once completed, the tag was printed and displayed on a pair of jeans reminiscent of jeans displayed at a store.
